Patient Stories and Video Reviews

Every patient has a story, and every brace or prosthesis is custom-made to meet their individual needs.

Below, you'll find real stories of dogs and other animals we've helped with custom-made braces and prosthetics—from the initial assessment and production in our workshop to their return to everyday life at home.

Each story includes videos showing how the device was made and fitted, followed by the results at home and during everyday activities. You can follow each patient's progress and see the changes in their mobility and quality of life.

We assess each case individually in collaboration with a veterinarian to ensure the final solution meets the patient's specific needs as closely as possible.

Skippy's Story: A Dog Who Lost Both Front Legs

Skippy is one of our remarkable patients whose story shows just how much a thoughtfully designed brace or prosthesis can improve a dog's quality of life.

His case is among our most significant projects and was also part of our Grand Prix 2026 recognition, highlighting Animal Prosthetics' expertise and innovative approach to animal orthotics and prosthetics.

Skippy was rescued from Egypt, where someone had forcibly removed part of both his front legs. These extensive amputations severely affected his mobility, balance and everyday life. Our goal was to create a custom-made solution that would help him move safely, provide better support and allow him to enjoy an active life again.

With the right solution in place, Skippy's stability, comfort and overall quality of life improved significantly.

His story shows that even complex orthopedic and neurological cases can have successful outcomes.

His First Prosthetic Legs and First Independent Steps

Meeting Skippy for the first time marked the start of our search for the best way to support his mobility. From designing his first prosthetic legs to fitting them, every step brought us closer to what mattered most—his first steps on his own.

Adjusting His Prosthetic Legs for Greater Comfort and Mobility

After the first week of use, it was time to adjust Skippy's prosthetic legs to improve his comfort, stability and overall mobility. Every detail matters in helping an animal move as naturally as possible.

New Prosthetic Legs for More Active Movement

We designed a second, improved pair of prosthetic legs for Skippy, giving him greater comfort and freedom of movement. As soon as they were fitted, he started eagerly pulling on the lead and even jumped up for his favourite ball without hesitation.

A Brace for Hock Stability When Surgery Isn't an Option

Tyrko fractured the bones just below his hock, but a heart condition meant he couldn't undergo surgery. A rigid stabilising brace helped him regain confidence in his movement and get around freely, both at home and outdoors.

Hyperextension, Osteoarthritis and Deformities

Saša was gradually losing her ability to walk due to osteoarthritis, hyperextension and a deformity in one front leg. A custom-made brace gave her better support and stability. She quickly took to it at her first fitting and even broke into a little run.
